Leeds Festival 2023 cleaners ‘utterly appalled’ by weekend trash

Cleaners at Leeds Festival 2023 said they were “utterly appalled” by the left-over tents, camping equipment and trash.

The bash, which took place between 25 August to 27 August saw over 90,000 revellers descend on Bramham park, leaving behind an unprecedented amount of waste.

Clean-up crews were deployed after the festival finished to attempt to ‘salvage tents and equipment for a refugee charity’.

But speaking on social media website X, one clean-up volunteer said:

“littering [was] on the grandest scale we’ve ever witnessed.

Many news outlets including the BBC and The Independent have shared drone footage showing the scale of the mess.

“It’s going to take us a while to digest what we saw,” he added. “Utterly appalling,” the volunteer added.
