Leeds Festival boss, Melvin Benn has told NME that he was ‘very pleased’ about how well the female artists went down at Leeds Festival 2023.
Speaking to the acclaimed music magazine, the festival chief said:
“I’m very pleased with how it’s gone this weekend. We’re sat here talking while Rina (Sawayama) is on the main stage.
“That has been one of the notable things about this weekend – how well a lot of the female acts have gone down.
“Mimi Webb pulled a huge crowd and had a great stage presence, MUNA put on a fantastic show and you’ll see the same of Becky Hill.”
When quizzed about the festival as a whole, his response echoed the same sentiments:
“We’ve got a quite broad spectrum of a line-up that hasn’t been dominated by any particular music theme or genre, and that’s been a real strength – especially for the women on the bill and in the audience. There’s been a coming together in that sense. It felt really palpable.
Leeds Festival 2023 took place on August Bank Holiday Weekend 2023 and was headlined by Billie Eilish, Sam Fender, Foals, The Killers, Imagine Dragons and The 1975 with hundreds of other acts appearing across different stages.
So far there have been no confirmed acts for the 2024 festival, but stay tuned for rumours and updates!
